Authorities have said it burst about 7 p.m. local time, and there were no reports of injury.  The existing crater has expanded to a 1.2-mile radius.

It happened 50 km (30 miles) from the Sendai nuclear station, but warnings have not  been issued there.

Tremors have been felt for the past few month, prompting officials to issue warning.  The volcano is sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, according to The Guardian, which consists of more than 100 volcanoes. A 2014 eruption at Mount Ontake killed 57 people.

UPTICK IN ACTIVITY

In Antarctica Thursday, a volcanic eruption occurred about 4,000 km (2,500 miles) south of Australia.  Big Bend, located on Heard Island emitted vapor and poison gas, according to Discovery News.

The area has been a hotspot of volcanic activity since 1881. But because of its remote location, eruptions are rarely seen.

SOUTH AMERICA INCREASE

Peruan volcano El Misti, which was dormant, has shown signs of increased activity in recent weeks.  It has been dormant for centuries.  Officials there have begun preparations for an evacuation.

In nearby Ecuador, a volcano that hasn’t erupted since before Christ may be on the verge of activity. A crack in the ground was discovered. Steam was coming out of it and it was glowing in spots.

Nah. 1:5 The mountains quake before him
and the hills melt away.
The earth trembles at his presence,
the world and all who live in it.
