Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, said Tuesday that a virus found in pigs in China has similarities to the 2009 Swine Flu and the 1918 Pandemic Flu and could potentially pose a threat in the future.
Testifying before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Fauci explained that the while the virus, known as “G4 EA H1N1,” does not yet appear to infect humans, it has displayed “reassortment capabilities.”
“In other words, when you get a brand new virus that turns out to be a pandemic virus it’s either due to mutations and/or the reassortment or exchanges of genes,” Fauci stated. “And they’re seeing virus in swine, in pigs now, that have characteristics of the 2009 H1N1, of the original 1918, which many of our flu viruses have remnants of that in it, as well as segments from other hosts like swine.”
The NIAID chief warned senators of the “possibility that you might have another swine flu type outbreak as we had in 2009.”
Fauci added that for the moment, the virus is still in observation. “It’s something that still is in the stage of examination,” he said.
Chinese researchers from several institutions, such as Shandong Agricultural University and the Chinese National Influenza Center, discovered the G4 virus during a pig surveillance program in samples taken from 2011 to 2018.
According to a study published in the scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), “G4 viruses have all the essential hallmarks of a candidate pandemic virus.”
The 2009 H1N1 swine flu pandemic was responsible for the deaths of an estimated 151,700 to 575,400 people around the world. But Dr. Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at Columbia University’s public health school, warned the public not to panic:
Our understanding of what is a potential pandemic influenza strain is limited. Sure, this virus meets a lot of the basic criteria but it’s not for sure going to cause a hypothetical 2020 flu pandemic, or even be a dominant strain in humans.
What we should NOT do is freak out and expect that another flu pandemic is imminent. We should prepare for the flu pandemic that will come: maybe this fall, maybe not for another few years, but is inevitable.
The “inevitable future pandemic” is precisely the idea Fauci and his friends want to scare the country with, promoting the belief in a threat that will go away only if everyone gets a vaccine.
Fauci made it clear on Sunday, saying during an interview that the United States is “unlikely” to achieve herd immunity to the coronavirus if part of the population refuses to receive the vaccine.
“That’s one of the reasons why we have to make sure we engage the community as we’re doing now, to get community people to help us, for people to understand that we are doing everything we can to show that it’s safe and that it’s effective and that it’s for the good of them as individuals and in society to take the vaccine,” the NIAID director said.
He also expressed frustration with “a general anti-science, anti-authority, anti-vaccine feeling among some people in this country.”
Fauci’s remarks echo those of Bill Gates, who said that life will not go back to normal until the people are “widely vaccinated.” Gates is committed to spending billions of his own vast fortune to create a vaccine.
But Bill Gates is the last person anyone should want making a vaccine. He’s the man who regularly cites vaccines as a component of his plan to reduce the world population. Supposed tetanus vaccines pushed by Gates onto the women of Kenya had sterilizing agents in about half the samples, according to Kenyan officials, yet the “tetanus shot” recipients were not told this information. Polio vaccines financed by Gates are causing more polio cases than the wild virus in the Third World.
Moreover, Gates is funding both an under-the-skin vaccine history device that can be read with infrared-equipped smartphones and a remote-controlled contraceptive microchip to go under women’s skin.
But the only way to convince the majority of Americans to get a vaccine is to keep the fear flowing. Hence the current hysteria about rising coronavirus cases and the insistence by everyone from Joe Biden to Andrew Cuomo to Fauci himself that we all need to wear a mask.
Also speaking before the Senate on Tuesday, director of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention Robert Redfield called on the nation’s youth to get on board with the face-mask program.
“Specifically, I’m addressing the younger members of our society, the millennials and the ‘Generation Zs,’” he said, urging young people to “embrace the universal use of face coverings.”
If you keep people scared enough, you don’t have to take away their rights; they’ll give them up willingly.
