The Zionist quest for a Third Temple in Jerusalem continues, unabated, with a new development at the Temple Mount.
There, Israel Police have given permission to the nascent Sanhedrin to hold a Passover sacrifice just yards from the remains of the Second Temple. A re-enactment of the sacrifice was held, for the eighth year in a row, in Jerusalem’s Old City, but the upcoming event will be as close to the real deal as has happened in nearly 2,000 years.
Last year’s Passover sacrifice was performed at the Hurva Synagogue, about 450 yards from the Temple Mount in the Old City’s Jewish Quarter. This year, it will happen at the Davidson Center archaeological park just below the al-Aqsa Mosque.
This could be the result of greater confidence for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is in the process of being swept into his fifth term as premier. Amended numbers released by Israel’s election committee have taken one Knesset seat away from his Likud party and has given one to the United Torah Judaism party—which is already aligned with his government coalition.
In other words, it will be a distinction with little difference in the new center-right megabloc the prime minister is attempting to forge. The more important headline from Jerusalem today was the announcement that a majority of the Knesset parties’ leaders have supported him in discussions with President Reuven Rivlin.
Perhaps surrendering to inevitability, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ spokesman says there can be no peace plan without a Palestinian capital in east Jerusalem. Abu Rudeineh has told Israeli reporters at an event hosted by the Geneva Initiative that “as long as Jerusalem is off the table, then Trump is off the table,” noting the Jewish bias of the American negotiating team to date.
