Here the last volcanic update with eruptions at Veniaminof, Karymsky, Turrialba, Krakatau and Kilauea.

Eruption at Veniaminof Volcano in Alaska

Alaska Volcano Observatory scientists increased the threat level of Mount Veniaminof from yellow to orange last Tuesday (September 5, 2018). That color designation indicates that sudden explosions could send ash above 20,000 feet (6,100 meters) and threaten international air planes.

Right now, the eruptive activity of Veniaminof has not changed much, but has been clarified by satellite images obtained on September 9, 2018, clearly showing a one-half-mile long lava flow and a triangular zone of ash deposits on the snow covering the 8,225-foot volcano, one of Alaska’s most active.

This activity has been confirmed by people aboard the state ferry Tustumena, reporting the lava flow and fountaining Monday morning. – AVO

Karymsky volcanic explosion in Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia

Karymsky volcano exploded on September 10 at 23:25, sending a plume of ash 4,000-5,000 meters asl., that then started drifting north-east for over 290 km.

Here a video from about a month ago! WOW!

KVERT states that the moderate eruptive activity continues, meaning that ash explosions up to 13,100-19,700 ft (4-6 km) a.s.l. can occur at any time, affecting low-flying aircrafts. – KVERT

Turrialba volcanic eruption in Costa Rica

Volcano Turrialba erupted on September 10 at 12:10 local time, releasing a column of ash 300 meters above the summit.

Eruption of Krakatau volcano in indonesia

A continuous tremor with an amplitude of 50mm was recorded under the Krakatau volcano on September 10.

Due to bad weather conditions, it was not possible to catch the eruption on video. However, a new image of Sentinel 2 SWIR satellite shows a new wide and warm lava flowing towards the sea. – PVMBG

Kilauea volcano update

On Kīlauea Volcano’s lower East Rift Zone (LERZ), minor amounts of incandescence were observed overnight from a collapse pit within the fissure 8 cone, though the amount was reduced over observations from the previous night. Very minor fuming is visible from a small spatter cone located towards the back of the cone. Small lava flows have been observed within the fissure 8 cone, however none have extended outside the walls of the cone.

Seismicity and ground deformation remain low at the summit of Kīlauea. Aftershocks from the magnitude-6.9 earthquake in early May are still being generated on faults located on Kīlauea’s South Flank.

Small collapses continued to occur yesterday at Puʻu ʻŌʻō crater, but are much less frequent than they were over the previous two days. A nearby tiltmeter began recording deflationary tilt, and another tiltmeter further downrift has continued to show a decrease in its rate of inflationary tilt. Rates of tilting throughout the East Rift Zone are much lower than were observed during the period of major eruptive activity. There has been no change in seismicity during this time. We will continue to watch these data for changes. – HVO-USGS
