The New Black Panther party is once again looking for media attention. After making threats in Texas against police officers and repeatedly assuring the media and various other sources that they don’t intend to commit violence, despite the fact that everywhere they go they turn up with guns, they’re now claiming they’re going to show up at the Republican Convention carrying weapons for self-defense.
Apparently, the Republican Convention is going to be full of right leaning politicians and supporters who hate black people, despite the fact that some of them will indeed be black.
Ohio’s open-carry laws permit the New Black Panther Party to embark on their little foray. So we will have two armed groups in close proximity to each other – the other being the Ohio law enforcement.
As it turns out, people entering the Republican Convention are going to be do so while carrying, which is making security guards extremely nervous. This has “bad idea” written all over it.
But security officials are likely to be nervous about allowing politically opposed groups to carry guns in such close proximity to each other, especially in the wake of the massacre of five police officers in Dallas, recent shootings of black men by white police officers, and protests over police brutality.
Members of the New Black Panther Party – or people wearing the group’s insignia – have been seen carrying rifles at recent protests over the police shooting of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The party’s chairman, Hashim Nzinga, said members would carry firearms at the convention if it is legal.
Gun owners in Ohio do not legally require a license to carry firearms.
‘If it is an open state to carry, we will exercise our second amendment rights because there are other groups threatening to be there that are threatening to do harm to us,’ Mr Nzinga said.
‘If that state allows us to bear arms, the Panthers and the others who can legally bear arms will bear arms,’ he added.
It’s one of those situations where everything that can go wrong definitely will. And why are the New Black Panthers even going there? They’re being awfully presumptive. They’re not trying to prevent hate, they’re trying to create it. This is what this new “Civil Rights Movement” is all about. It’s not equality they’re after. It’s bloodshed and superiority.
