Twin 5.5 Magnitude Earthquakes Strike Near Samoa

110km NNE of Hihifo, Tonga

A moderate earthquake with magnitude 5.5 (ml/mb) was reported 110 km NNE of Hihifo, Tonga (68 miles) on Sunday. The temblor was picked up at 01:44:41 / 1:44 am (local time epicenter). Exact location of earthquake, longitude -173.2349 West, latitude -15.0891 South, depth = 10 km. Unique identifier: us100062ea. Ids that are associated to the event: us100062ea. A tsunami warning has not been issued (Does not indicate if a tsunami actually did or will exist). Global date and time of event UTC/GMT: 10/07/16 / 2016-07-10 13:44:41 / July 10, 2016 @ 1:44 pm. The earthquake was roughly at a depth of 10 km (6 miles).
