Mexico, June 7: Massive earthquake was reported from Mexico on Tuesday. The magnitude of quake was states to be 6.2 magnitude by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The tremors were felt at the eastern coast of the Latin nation, near Cihuatlan. The impact of the earthquake was felt in the entire region of Jalisco.
The epicentre of earthquake is reported to be 65 miles (105 km) Southwest of Manzanillo, Colima. Geographical experts have predicted massive casualties due to the earthquake citing the high magnitude of the tremors.
National disaster alert has been issued in Mexico. People across the eastern coast have been alerted. Evacuation process has began in Colima region.
The earthquake is expected to be followed up by a series of after-quakes for the next couple of hours. People have been advised to vacate their homes and assemble at open places in order to avoid catastrophic damage.
The maximum of the quake will be felt in the region of Colima. According to local reports, at least two residential complexes in the area have collapsed. As of now, no casualties have been reported. The earthquake has created a panic in the entire eastern coastal belt, with the government announcing all public and private holdings to close their operations for the day.
