2016 Blizzard: Gas Shortages Reported

A potentially historic, crippling snowstorm could dump as much as 30 inches of snow on the D.C. area before it’s all over.

D.C. officials are cautioning residents to have 72 hours’ worth of supplies on hand — but as residents scrambled to get ready, they’re ran into trouble at some area gas stations, and shared what they found via social media.

A blizzard warning has been issued for the D.C. area from 3 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday, meaning a snowstorm with winds exceeding 35 mph is expected. Wind could gust up at 30 to 50 mph in the D.C. area, with mph gusts toward Interstate 81. Storm Team4 is warning that 20 to 30 inches of snow could pile up.
