The temblors ranged in magnitude from 2.5 to 4.5 and were centered in rural Nevada, between 41 and 48 miles east-southeast of the small town of Lakeview, Oregon.
The strongest of the quakes, at 4.5 magnitude, struck at 1:09 a.m. Thursday. According to the USGS’s site for earthquake-reporting, only about four people reported feeling the strongest of the earthquakes.
Since July 12, an earthquake swarm has been shaking lightly populated northwest Nevada and southern Oregon. As of early December, more than 1,700 quakes had been reported in the area.
